Mercedes will introduce two hybrid version of its E-Class at Detroit next. One petrol and one diesel. Europe and America.

For more than two years since the hybrid variant exhibits Mercedes E-Class and wondered if we could start still on the agenda. This hybrid is the originality with the German mark because it is a diesel hybrid PSA alone and so far it has taken the step of marketing - and again, the beginning of 3008 and DS5 regular shift.
The technology is new, builders who have subscribed will dry plaster technique and want to avoid missteps. Waiting is really justified and will not be very long because Mercedes will present the final version in the coming days in Detroit.
But surprisingly, the two hybrids will take place on the catwalk of the company's Stuttgart. Along with the diesel E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID will be found is E 400 Hybrid version.

Both share a re-light hybrid system Hybrid 400 S. A slightly more powerful electric motor of 28 horsepower and lithium-ion batteries are the same of 19 kW and 0.8 kWh, would be placed under the hood as the class S. They use the 7G Tronic automatic transmission plus (revised for use) and can run on any power up to 35 km / h in a very short distance (1 km).

For the gasoline version, Mercedes has chosen for the new V6 petrol engine (306 horsepower) in contrast to the S-Class with the older generation. The average consumption drops to about 7.7 litres/100 km (U.S. conversion), little of that month the S-Class but with supperior torque and power. The diesel side, Mercedes announced an average of 4.2 l/100 km. This one liter less than the 250 version of the CDI diesel shares the same unit (2-liter 204 horsepower).

E-Class hybrid will run on all electric. For this, the trick is the same as the Infiniti M35 hybrid: a second clutch interposed between the two machines. Because when they are disconnected from each other, the electric motor can easily cause the car and recharge the batteries better.

The diesel version will be marketed in Europe and gasoline in the U.S. and in China and Japan.
